Employment Opportunities

Position vacancies in the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico are published in the newspaper or in this web site. The announcements outline the specific duties, conditions, compensation, and qualifications for each vacancy.

Please read the announcement carefully to verify that you meet the specific qualifications before applying. The announcement will specify which documents you need to include with your application.  The Court only accepts application packages which are complete and submitted within the specified deadline.

Some position vacancy announcements may require that you complete a Federal Judicial Branch Application for Employment (Form AO 78) and include it as part of your application package.

Send your application package to:  vacancies@prd.uscourts.gov.

If you are interested in applying to a clerkship or appellate staff attorney position, you may register for an Online System for Clerkship Application and Review (OSCAR) account during the month of January before your third year in law school.  OSCAR is a secure, user-friendly, online resource that streamlines federal law clerk and appellate staff attorney hiring.  If you are interested in clerking for a particular judge, make sure you contact that judge's chambers first.  Applicants who wish to use the OSCAR system to search for positions need to complete an Applicant Registration.
