Judicial Conduct & Disability

Codes of Conduct and related sources of authority provide standards of behavior for judges and others in the federal court family. The Judicial Conduct and Disability Act allows complaints alleging that a federal judge has engaged in “conduct prejudicial to the effective and expeditious administration of the business of the courts” or has become, by reason of a temporary or permanent condition, “unable to discharge the duties” of the judicial office.

Anti-Discrimination and Civility Policies

The U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico (“District Court”) prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, sex, gender, gender identity, pregnancy, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, age (40 years and older), and physical or mental disability (“protected categories”). The District Court provides equal employment opportunities to all individuals, and employment considerations will be based solely on merit, qualifications, and abilities.
