As part of the United States District Court of Puerto Rico's ongoing efforts to support the legal community within our district, Chief District Judge Raúl Arias-Marxuach and District Judge Silvia L. Carreño-Coll took part in the 2024 Puerto Rico Trial Advocacy Competition (PRTAC) of the Inter-American University Law School held on November 14-16, 2024.

Chief Judge Arias-Marxuach served as a judge during one of the competition's semifinal rounds, lending his expertise to evaluate the advocacy skills of participating law students. Judge Carreño-Coll joined a distinguished panel, including Circuit Justice David Navarro of Illinois, for the final round, where she provided invaluable insights alongside a jury of ten lay volunteers.

The final round saw Ohio Northern University and Stetson University face off in a trial simulation. Stetson University emerged victorious in this competition, which continues to foster excellence in trial advocacy.
