On March 2, 2026, the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico welcomed 24 law students from the Federal Bar Association – University of Puerto Rico (FBA-UPR) Student Chapter, accompanied by Professor Nilda Navarro, to the José V. Toledo United States Courthouse in Old San Juan. The students attended oral arguments before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, gaining valuable insight into appellate advocacy and the federal judicial process.
Following the proceedings, Chief Circuit Judge David J. Barron and Circuit Judge Gustavo A. Gelpí met with the students and engaged in a thoughtful discussion on various aspects of the federal judiciary, as well as their professional paths and experiences on the bench. The exchange provided students with a unique opportunity to learn directly from members of the appellate court and to further their understanding of careers in public service.
The Court recognizes and appreciates the collaborative efforts of the District Court and the Court of Appeals Clerk’s Office staff, whose coordination and support ensured a successful and enriching experience for all participants.
