Notice from the Clerk: 

The United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico is pleased to announce a Virtual Continuing Legal Education Program (CLE) to be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Atlantic Standard Time). This virtual CLE will be one day, three-hour program, to be offered free of charge to members of the Bar in good standing. Every effort will be made to obtain accreditation from the Puerto Rico Supreme Court Continuing Legal Education Program.

The virtual CLE program will be presented by Professor Barry P. McDonald of the Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law. It will examine major decisions and themes from the United States Supreme Court’s 2025-2026 Term, including cases involving presidential powers, democracy and voting rights, gun rights, transgender issues, Fourth Amendment jurisprudence, criminal law, and significant developments expected in the upcoming 2026-2027 Term. The presentation will also include a review of key decisions issued during the 2024-2025 Term.

The virtual CLE Program will run from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on June 26, 2026. For your convenience, a detailed agenda, speaker information, and lecture materials will be posted on this website. Requests for reservation will only be received through the Court’s CLE Registration Application.

Prior to submitting your registration application, please note the following:

  • Attorneys must be in good standing to register. Attorneys in good standing must have received an email confirmation receipt for their 2025 electronic payment of fees. If you did not receive a confirmation receipt, please verify your good standing status by sending an e-mail to prd-cle-registration@prd.uscourts.gov.
  • Each attorney must submit his or her own reservation.
  • Telephone calls for registration to the CLE Program will not be accepted.
  • The deadline to register is Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
  • For accreditation from the Puerto Rico Supreme Court Continuing Legal Education Program, participants will be required to provide their registered “Registro Unico de Abogados (RUA)” number as part of the application.
  • Attendance for the entire virtual program is mandatory for confirmed participants.
  • Only attorneys with confirmed reservation may attend the Court’s virtual CLE Program.

After the reservation period closes, the Clerk’s Office will send a confirmation notice to registered attorneys at the email address listed in the CM/ECF System.  Attorneys with confirmed reservations who wish to cancel must do so by sending an email to prd-cle-registration@prd.uscourts.gov, no later than Monday, June 22, 2026.
