Under Rule 83(A)(d)(3)of the Local Rules of the District of Puerto Rico, Order in Misc. No. 97-0083(ADC), ECF No. 2, issued on April 28, 2017 and Notice from the Clerk No. 17-14, dated October 16, 2017, members of the District of Puerto Rico Bar must pay a local annual bar renewal fee, currently of $75. The next renewal fee period begins on October 1, 2025. A lawyer who fails to pay the renewal fee by September 30, 2026, will no longer be considered in "Good Standing" with the District of Puerto Rico. A lawyer admitted to the District of Puerto Rico on or after June 1, 2025, is not required to pay the renewal fee in 2025. A lawyer with special admission to practice in the District of Puerto Rico under Local Rule 83(A)(e) is not required to pay the renewal fee.
Beginning on October 1, 2025, attorneys admitted to practice before this Court shall pay their Annual Bar Renewal Fee electronically via the Court’s NextGen CM/ECF platform. See Notice from the Clerk 25-09, dated September 30, 2025. Electronic payments must be completed using credit cards through Pay.gov and are available exclusively to attorneys who are in good standing with the Court. Attorneys with outstanding bar renewal fees for prior years must submit those payments by check or money order to the Clerk’s Office, as electronic payment are not available for balances due from previous years.
