On Thursday, September 18, 2025, the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico hosted a Naturalization Ceremony at the Escuela Libre de Música Ernesto Ramos Antonini in San Juan, celebrating Constitution and Citizenship Day. Forty-four individuals from ten different countries took the Oath of Allegiance and officially became United States citizens.
The ceremony was presided over by Chief Judge Raúl M. Arias-Marxuach and attended by seven judicial officers. Senior District Judge Francisco A. Besosa administered the Oath of Allegiance, while Magistrate Judge Marcos E. López delivered the keynote address, reflecting on the meaning of citizenship and civic duty.
Students from the Escuela Libre de Música were active participants in the event. As part of their curriculum, they joined the audience for the ceremony, and their award-winning choir performed the national anthems of the United States and Puerto Rico, as well as a special musical interlude. Their participation enriched the ceremony with a spirit of celebration and artistic expression.
This ceremony forms part of the District Court’s ongoing commitment to fostering civic education and welcoming new citizens into its community.
