Students from UHS participate in Mock Trial Event with District Judge Camille Vélez-Rivé

District Court Judge Camille Vélez-Rivé hosted a group of 45 University High School Secondary School students for two Mock Trial exercises at the Clemente Ruiz Nazario United States Courthouse in Hato Rey. During this event, middle school and high school students from the Public Speaking/Litigation and Legal Aspects of Education courses served as prosecutors, defense attorneys, witnesses and jurors during the two mock criminal trials. In one of the mock trials, a student served as the trial judge, with the assistance of Judge Vélez-Rivé.  Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Colón and Assistant Federal Public Defender Vivian Marrero served as coaches for the visiting students during their Mock Trials.
