On April 20 and 21, 2026, the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico welcomed a delegation of 30 Judicial Attorneys from the Public Ministry of Colombia to the Clemente Ruiz Nazario U.S. Courthouse in Hato Rey.
The visiting group was welcomed by Magistrate Judge Héctor Ramos-Vega, who coordinated a comprehensive two-day program. The delegation observed judicial proceedings before District and Magistrate Judges, including proceedings before District Judge Camille L. Vélez-Rivé and Magistrate Judge Ramos-Vega, providing firsthand exposure to the federal judicial process.
In addition to courtroom observations, the program included a series of structured discussions with representatives from the United States Attorney’s Office, the Federal Public Defender’s Office, and the United States Probation Office. These sessions offered insight into the roles and coordination of key stakeholders within the federal criminal justice system, as well as opportunities for the exchange of perspectives and best practices.
The visit reflects the Court’s continued commitment to fostering international collaboration and strengthening institutional relationships through educational and professional exchanges.
