The United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico (“District of Puerto Rico”) will hold a Continuing Legal Education (“CLE”) Program on Friday, October 30, 2026, at the Condado Plaza Hotel. This will be a one-day, six-hour program, to be offered free of charge to members of the Bar in good standing. Every effort will be made to obtain accreditation from the Puerto Rico Supreme Court’s Continuing Legal Education Program.

The program will feature speaker Alfonso S. Martínez Piovanetti, Esq., who will be addressing Puerto Rico’s new Rules of Professional Conduct. Prof. Martínez Piovanetti is an Assistant Professor at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law and is a former Puerto Rico Superior Court Judge and Deputy Director of the Office of Court Administration.

The program will provide a practical overview of Puerto Rico’s new Rules of Professional Conduct, which took effect on January 1, 2026. Particular attention will be devoted to the new duty of technological competence and diligence under Rule 1.19, including its application to artificial intelligence and other technological tools used in the practice of law.

Prior to submitting your registration application, please note the following:

• Attorneys must be in good standing to register. Attorneys in good standing must have received an email confirmation receipt for their 2026 electronic payment of fees. If you did not receive a confirmation receipt, please verify your good standing status by sending an e-mail to prd-cle-registration@prd.uscourts.gov.
• Each attorney must make their own reservation.
• The deadline to register is Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
• For accreditation from the Puerto Rico Supreme Court Continuing Legal Education Program, participants will be required to provide their registered “Registro Unico de Abogados (RUA)” number as part of the application.
• Attendance for the entire program is mandatory for confirmed participants.
• Only attorneys with confirmed reservation may attend.
• Telephone calls for registration to the CLE Program will not be accepted.

After the reservation period closes, the Clerk’s Office will send a confirmation notice to registered attorneys at the email address listed in the CM/ECF System.

Attorneys with confirmed reservations who wish to cancel must do so by sending an email to prd-cle-registration@prd.uscourts.gov, no later than Friday, October 23, 2026.
