for the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico
 
March 17, 2023 (San Juan, PR): The Honorable Raúl M. Arias-Marxuach, Chief United States District Judge is pleased to announce that the judges of this Court appointed Ada I. García Rivera, Esq., CPA, as Clerk of Court for the District of Puerto Rico. García-Rivera took the oath of office in a private ceremony accompanied by her family and members of the Court.
 
García Rivera earned a B.A. in accounting, magna cum laude, from the University of Puerto Rico in 1996 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto School of Law in 1999. She is admitted to the practice of law in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit; she is also a Certified Public Accountant.
 
García Rivera has been a trusted and valued member of the Clerk’s Office for almost twenty years. In 2010, she was appointed as the Court’s Financial Manager in charge of the finance, procurement, budget, space and facilities, and CJA areas. From 2003 to 2010, she served as Staff Attorney and Assistant to the Chief Deputy providing procedural and substantive legal advice to the Clerk of Court, managing the District Bar Examination, and conducting internal reviews to ascertain the adequacy of the internal controls in all operational and administrative areas. She began her legal career in 2000 as an associate at Totti & Rodríguez Díaz. She also interned at Price Waterhouse, Goldman, Antonetti & Córdova, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Puerto, and McConnell Valdés LLC.
 
In congratulating Clerk of Court Ada I. García Rivera, Chief Judge Arias-Marxuach said: “Ms. Garcia Rivera’s well-deserved appointment is the product of nearly two decades of commitment to court administration. I am confident she will discharge her new duties with the same professional excellence and integrity that have been the hallmarks of her service to the District of Puerto Rico. I also take this opportunity to thank Agnes Ferrer-Auffant for selflessly serving as Acting Clerk of Court while the search for a Clerk was underway."
