U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico to Continue Normal Operations in the Event of a Government Shutdown

In the event of a federal government shutdown, the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico will be open for business as usual on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. The Clerk's Office will post additional information regarding operations as we obtain further guidance from the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts.

Since Court operations will not be interrupted, filing dates remain in effect. Any party seeking an extension of a deadline due to the shutdown must file a motion to continue, in compliance with all applicable rules and orders of the Court.

For additional information and updates on Court operations and services, please refer to the Court’s Internet website (www.prd.uscourts.gov) and its official X account (@USCourtsPRD).
